Climbing Pisco Mountain – Llanganuco Santa Cruz - Lake 69 - Huaraz – Perú - South America

This is the most common climb in Cordillera Blanca. Generally, trekkers complete their trip with a climb of the SW route of Pisco, after the required acclimatization. The view from the summit of Pisco is probably one of the most impressive in the whole Cordillera Blanca Perú, offering a 360° panorama over snow capped mountains.

Itineray:
1st day: Arrival at Lima, transfer from the airport to the hotel in Lima
2nd day: Lima – Huaraz (bus).
Transfer to Huaraz (distance: 400 km from Lima), passing the Conococha (4,050m), transfer from the bus-station to the hotel
3rd day: Acclimatization trek to Lake Churup (4,450m).
We leave Huaraz at 7 a.m. for the village of Pitec. From the village, we ascend for about 3 hours, including some rock scrambling at the top, to reach Churup Lake, a beautiful turquoise lake at the base of Churup Mountain – Huaraz - Hostal.

4th day: Transfer from Huaraz to Cashapampa (2,900m) – Llamacoral (3,800m)
In the morning we leave Huaraz to Cashapampa (2.900m), where we meet our donkey-driver for carrying our equipment. After a three hours-walk we have lunch. We continue walking untill we reach Llamacoral a 3.800m. Camping.

5th day: Llamacoral (3,800m) - Alpamayo Cb (4,400m) –Taullipampa (4,250m).
The way of today will be very easy. We pass the lakes of Jatuncochja and Ichicocha with their beautiful colours of blue. At Quisuar we have lunch. After that we ascend to the base Camp of the Alpamayo. The view from this point is very spectacular. We descend to our camping-site which is called Taullipampa (4.250m.).

6th day: Taullipampa(4,250m) - Paso Punta Unión (4,750m) – Huaripampa (3,600m).
After having breakfast we leave the camping-site and walk uphill to Punta Union (4.750m). After three hours of walking we reach the pass and enjoy the beautiful view to the Cordillera Blanca. We descend to the lake Morococha where we have lunch. We follow the way downhill to our camping-site at Huaripampa (3.600m.).

7th day: Huaripampa (3,600m) – Paccha (4,000m).
We leave the camping-site and pass the region of Huaripampa. We follow the foothpath to Vaqueria. From here we ascend until we reach the camping-site of Paccha (4.000m).

8th day: Paccha (4,000m) - Paso Portachuelo Llanganuco (4,767m) – Cebollapampa (3,850m).
After the breakfast we continue ascending until we reach the pass of Portachuelo (4.767m.). We enjoy the beautiful view to the summits of Huascaran, Huandoy, Chopicalqui, Pisco and Chacrarajuand the two lakes which are named Orconcocha and Chinancocha. We descend to a plane valley (Cebollapampa) where we camp (3.850).

9th day: Cebollapampa (3,850m) – Lake 69 (4,400m) - Cebollapampa.
From Cebollapampa we follow the foothpath to the lake 69, which will take us about 4 hours. The beautiful lake is at the bottom of the Chararaju. We return to our camping-site.

10th day: Cebollapampa – Cb Pisco (4,600m).
Cebollapampa this is the starting point for the approach trek for climbing Pisco (5,750m), Huandoy (6,395m) and Chacraraju (6,112m). The base camp is reached in approximately 4 hours.

11th day: Cb Pisco (4,600) – Summit Pisco ( 5,750m) – Cb.
Early start (3-4 am) for the summit climb. We cross a moraine and climb to the glacier tongue, and then to the col, which offers excellent views of summits of Cordillera Blanca. The route to the summit crosses a crevasse to reach the summit, where a 360º view around makes us forget the fatigue. Descent to base camp.

12th day: Cb – Cebollapampa – Yungay – Huaraz – Hostal.
Descent from base camp to Cebollapampa where transportation will take us back to the hostal in Huaraz.

13th day: Travelling back to Lima ( bus) – Hotel.
Transfer to Lima (hostal).
14th day: Lima, transfers from hotel to airport. Return to country of origin.

EXPEDITION COSTS INCLUDE:
- When you arrive to Lima we pick up you to the hotel by taxi.
- 2 nights lodging in Lima (double bed.)
- When you arrive to Huaraz we pick up you to the hotel by taxi.
- 2 nights lodging in Huaraz (double bed, breakfast included)
- Bus transportation Lima – Huaraz. (Service VIP).
- Private local transportation Huaraz /Cashapampa /Cebollapampa/Huaraz.
- Mountain guide (IUAGM) – Trekking – Climb.
- Cook, specialized in cooking normal and vegetarian meals
- Donkeys to carry the common gear (tents, food and fuel) as well as donkeys to carry personal gear (up to 20 kg per person)
- Kitchen gear and cooking facilities at base camp (including dining tent, chairs, cooking tent).
- Food for the whole duration of the climb (breakfast, lunch and dinner) is included.
- The meals include: omelets, sups, fresh fruits, ahuacate, spaghettis meats, rice all them rich in carbohydrates, excellent to recover all the energy you lose during the trek and climbing, also include drinks as: tea, coffee, milk breads, popcorn and coco tea good for altitude sickness
- Climbing gear: rope, aluminum stakes, ice screws
- Camping gear: 4 season tent
- First aid kit
- Check-up for oxygen to assess acclimatization level of each client.
- Entry to National Park Huascarán.
Not included:
- Food costs outside the climb (Lima and Huaraz)
- Flight from country of origin to Lima
- Extra days of lodging due to delays of the trip
- Personal trekking and climbing gear (plastic boots, harness, ice axes, sleeping bag, sleeping mattress etc..)

Lightweight walking shoes/sandals/socks/pants/short pants/T-shirts (long sleeve and short sleeve)/sunglasses/sunscreen/plastic bags/warm sleeping bag /light weight trekking boots/wool socks/light weight treeking pants/waterproof pants and jacket/fleece/Goretex/hat/mits or warm gloves/thermal liners/camera/bandana or hat against sun/headlamp with extra batteries.

Safety Individual gear:

Glacier glasses 100% UV with rigid case (2 pair recommended)/ goggles/ sunscreen with maximum protection/lipbalm/4 season sleeping bag/ sleeping pad or thermarest/hat/thermal underwear/fleece jacket/fleece pants/down jacket/Goretex jacket or similar material/2 pairs of gloves or mittens/ pair of thermal glove liners/2 pairs of thermal sock liners/plastic boots/gaiters.

Important Informations:

  • We recommend to make a before reservation because the price is economyc, this before reservation you can to do whit a 40 % all price and finally 60 % you can to page in huaraz when you will arrive, you would to make this reservation 6 before months.
  • We consider you to spend the two nights at the hostal ** as shown: The first night when you arrive at Huaraz and the second night if you return from the trekking. If you want to stay longer at Huaraz we can offer you a price of S/....
