Cordillera Huayhuash - Climbing Diablo - Mudo Mountain - Hiking Trek Huaraz - Peruvian - South America

Itineray:
1st day: Arrival at Lima, transfer from the airport to the hotel in Lima
2nd day: Lima – Huaraz (bus).
Transfer to Huaraz (distance: 400 km from Lima), passing the Conococha (4,050m), transfer from the bus-station to the hotel. “Cruz del Sur” http://www1.cruzdelsur.com.pe/
3rd day: Acclimatization trek to Lake Churup (4450m).
We leave Huaraz by private-bus to the little village Pitek (3.850m). At first we pass through another village, which is called Llupa (3.650m). From here we have a beautiful view to the southern part of the Cordillera Blanca. Our trip to the Churup-Lake (4.450m) we start from Pitek. At first we enter the mountain ravine of Churup. After some hours of walking we reach the Lake Churup. Here we stay for one hour before we return to Huaraz - Hostal.

4th day: Huaraz – Chiquian (3400) – Llamac (3250).
Arriving Chiquian. (3400), after that transfer to Llamac (3250) First day camping.

5th day: Llamac (3250) - Cuartelhuain. (3900).
Leaving Llamac at 8:00 am to Cuartelhuain. (3900). Walking-time about 6 – 7 hours. Observing the first summits like Ninashanca. We walk through small villages likePocpa and Paclla. Arriving at the camping of Cuartelhuain.

6th day: Cuartelhuain (3900) - Laguna de Mitococha. (4100).
Walking-time about 5 – 6 hours. We pass the first pass of Cacananpunta (4700). Here we can enjoy the view to the summits of Ninashanca and Rondoy, lakes like Pucacocha, Yanacocha Chico and Grande. Then we descend to the camping of  Mitococha. From here we have a beautiful view to the summits of Rondoy and Hirishanca.

7th day: Laguna de Mitococha (4100) - Laguna de Carhuacocha (4138).
Walking time about 5 - 6 hours. We climb up to the second pass of Punta Carhuac (4650), before we descend at the mountain ravine to our camping-site at Carhuacocha with the beautiful view to the tops of  Jirishanca, Yerupaja, Toro, etc.

8th day: Laguna de Carhuacocha (4138) - Huayhuash. (4100).
Walking time about 6-7 hours. We walk up to the third pass of Carnicero (4600). After that we descend to the lakes of Atocshaico, Carnicero. We have a beautiful view to the tops of Siula, Jural, Carnicero y Trapecio.

9th day: Huayhuash (4100) - Laguna Viconga (4407).
Walking time 5-6 hours. Today we climb up to the 4th pass which is called Portachuelo (4750). We see the mountains Puscanturpa, Cuyoc, Millpo and parts of the Cordillera Raura. We arrive at our camping-site at Viconga (4300). It is possible to take a bath at the hot springs of Atuscancha (4000).

10th day: Laguna Viconga (4407) –  Paso San Antonio - Guanacpatay (3900).
Walking time about 4-5 hours. Today we walk up to the 5th pass named Cuyoc (5000).This ill be the highest pass of our trekking. From here we descend to our camping-site, ascend to the passage of San Antonio where we will have a view of the Cordillera Huayhuash, Lake Sarapococha, Jurau.

11th day: Guanacpatay (3900) - Huayllapa (3600) – Huatiac (4300).
Walking time about 5-6 hours. We descend to the valley of Guanacpatay until we arrive at the village Huayllapa - Huatia.

12th day: Huatiac (3600) – Gashpapampa (4700).
Base-camp of Diablo Mudo. 5- 6 hours. Our 6th pass will be the Tapush (4900) with the view to Auxilio, Diablo Mudo, etc.

13th day: Gashpapampa -  Summit Diablo Mudo (5350) – Laguna Jahuacocha.
We leave at 4:30 am to the ascend of the Diabolo Mudo (5350). From here we descend to the lake of Jahuacocha (4100) and enjoy the view to the Cordillera Huayhuash with the mountains like Yerupaja, Hirishanca, Carnicero, Siula, Trapecio etc. These ones of our group, who will not ascend the Diablo Mudo, will pass their 7th pass named Yaucha (4800). All of us descend the mounaine ravine of Haucrish. We can observe parts of the glaciar of Hirishanca and Yerupaja. At the lake of Jahuacocha we camp this night.

14th day: Today we relax at the lake of Jahuacocha.
We celebrate the long way of walking with a typical Peruvian meal which is called pachamanca. It is possible to go for a short walk to the lake of Solterococha and the base-camp of Hirishanca.

15th day:Laguna Jahuacocha (4066) - Llamac (3250).
Walking time about 5-6 hours. Today we alkk up to our last pass, named Pampa de Llamac (4300). Now we can enjoy the beautiful view to the Cordillera Huayhuash for the last time. We leave to Chiquián (3400), transfer from Chuquian to Huaraz.

16th day: Travelling back to Lima (bus) – Hotel.
Transfer to Lima (hostal).
17th day: Lima, transfers from hotel to airport. Return to country of origin.

- When you arrive to Huaraz we pick up you to the hotel by taxi.

- Bus transportation Lima – Huaraz. (Service VIP).
- Private local transportation Huaraz /Llamac/Huaraz.
- Mountain guide (IUAGM).
- Cook, specialized in cooking normal and vegetarian meals
- Donkeys to carry the common gear (tents, food and fuel) as well as donkeys to carry personal gear (up to 20 kg per person).
- More than 6 persons one horse for emergency case.
- Kitchen gear and cooking facilities at base camp (including dining tent, chairs, cooking tent).
- Food for the whole duration of the climb (breakfast, lunch and dinner) is included.
- The meals include: omelets, sups, fresh fruits, ahuacate, spaghettis meats, rice all them rich in carbohydrates, excellent to recover all the energy you lose during the trek and climbing, also include drinks as: tea, coffee, milk breads, popcorn and coco tea good for altitude sickness
- Camping gear: 4 season tent
- First aid kit
- Check-up for oxygen to assess acclimatization level of each client.
Not included:
- Food costs outside the climb (Lima and Huaraz).
- Entry to National Park Huayhuash.
- Flight from country of origin to Lima
- Extra days of lodging due to delays of the trip
- Personal clothes and lagguage during the trekking (goretex-trousers, jacket, gloves, cap)
- Sleeping-bag (-14C).

Recommended gear:

Lightweight walking shoes/sandals/socks/pants/short pants/T-shirts (long sleeve and short sleeve)/sunglasses/sunscreen/plastic bags/warm sleeping bag /light weight trekking boots/wool socks/light weight treeking pants/waterproof pants and jacket/fleece/Goretex/hat/mits or warm gloves/thermal liners/camera/bandana or hat against sun/headlamp with extra batteries.

Safety Individual gear:

Glacier glasses 100% UV with rigid case (2 pair recommended)/ goggles/ sunscreen with maximum protection/lipbalm/4 season sleeping bag/ sleeping pad or thermarest/hat/thermal underwear/fleece jacket/fleece pants/down jacket/Goretex jacket or similar material/2 pairs of gloves or mittens/ pair of thermal glove liners/2 pairs of thermal sock liners/plastic boots/gaiters.

Important Informations:

  • We recommend to make a before reservation because the price is economyc, this before reservation you can to do whit a .....% all price and finally .....% you can to page in huaraz when you will arrive, you would to make this reservation ..... before months.
  • We consider you to spend the two nights at the hostal ** as shown: The first night when you arrive at Huaraz and the second night if you return from the trekking. If you want to stay longer at Huaraz we can offer you a price of S/.... Nuevo Soles per person at the Hostal la Cordillera, Oscar´S (incl. hot water, priate bathroom, TV, cafeteria).The hostal is placed three squares away from the plaza de armas of Huaraz
