Itinary:

Day 1: leave from Huaraz in bus ti Chiquian , you depart for Llamac (3250) where  the donkeys and donkey driver  are going to wait the group and walk to Cuartelhuain. (3900). The walk lasts about 6 - 7 hours. During the walk you can see the impressive snow capped “Ninashanca” mountain. You pass through a number of picturesque towns such as Pocpa and Paclla. Afterwards you arrive at the Cuartelhuain camp site.

Day 2: Cuartelhuain (3900) to Mitococha Lake. (4100). The walk lasts for about 5-6 hours. This walk includes your first mountain pass - Cacananpunta at 4700metres. During the walk you can see the snow capped peaks of Ninashanca and Rondoy, but can also witness beautiful lakes such as “Pucacocha”, “Yanacocha” and “Chico y el Grande”. Later, you descend until you arrive at the Mitococha camp site. Here, you can observe both the snow capped mountains “Rondoy” and “Hirishanca”.

Day 3: Mitococha Lake (4100) – Carhuacocha Lake (4138). The walk lasts for about 5 – 6 hours. This walk takes you over your second pass, known as Carhuac point (4650). You descend through the valley and arrive at our campsite - Carhuacocha. There are panoramic views of “Jirishanca”, “Yerupaja” and “Toro” mountains from the campsite.

Day 4: Carhuacocha  Lake (4138) - Huayhuash (4100). The walk lasts about 6 - 7 hours. You walk over your third pass  - Carnicero (4600). You descend down the valley to the Atocshaico and Carnicero lakes. Again you can observe the snow capped peaks of Siula, Jural, Carnicero and Trapecio.

Day 5: Huayhuash (4100) – Viconga Lake (4407). The walk lasts about 5 to 6 hours. You walk over the Portachuelo pass (4750). Here you can see the snow capped mountains of Puscanturpa, Cuyoc, Millpo, and part of the Cordillera Raura. You arrive at the Viconga camp site (4300). Later you can relax, by taking advantage of the thermal baths at Atuscancha (4000).

Day 6: Viconga Lake (4407) – Guanacpatay (3900). This walk lasts about 4 to 5 hours. You trek over the Cuyoc pass (5000). This is the highest point of the whole trek. Descend to the campsite at Guanacpatay.

Day 7: Guanacpatay (3900) - Huayllapa (3600) This walk lasts about 5 to 6 hours. You descend through the Guanacpatay valley. At the bottom of the valley, you pass through a small town – Auquimarca - where they make cheese. You continue your walk until you arrive at the small town of Huayllapa.

Day 8:Huayllapa (3600) - Jashapampa (4700 – base camp for the Diablo Mudo). This walk lasts about 5 to 6 hours. You trek over your 6th pass - the Tapush point (4900). You can see mountains such as “Auxilio”, “Diablo Mudo”, etc.

Day 9: this day we will leave from  the Diablo mudo camp and we will go up to the Yaucha pass (4800).
Both routes then descend through the “Haucrish valley” ravine from where you can see the Hirishanca and Yerupaja glaciers. You arrive at lake Jahuacocha where you camp for the night.

Day 10: This is a rest day at lake Jahuacocha. Celebrate the expedition by enjoying “pachamanca” - a typical Peruvian dish. You can also take advantage of the short walk to the lake Solterococha and the base of the Hirishanca glacier.

Day 11: Lake Jahuacocha (4066) - Llamac (3250). This walk lasts about 5 to 6 hours. You trek over the last pass, called Pampa de Llamac (4300). You can observe for the last time the snow capped mountains of the Cordillera Huayhuash. Later you make you way towards Chiquián (3400) along the same path on which you started your journey.
Finally, you are transported from Chiquián to Huaraz, where your adventure comes to an end.
