Climbing Pisco Mountain - Santa Cruz Portachuelo Llanganuco Cordillera Blanca - Huaraz – Perú - South America.

- Route Pisco Climbing : Arista SO.
- Start Climb. : Huaraz – Perú – South América.

This is the most common climb in Cordillera Blanca. Generally, trekkers complete their trip with a climb of the SO route of Pisco, after the required acclimatization. The view from the summit of Pisco is probably one of the most impressive in the whole Cordillera Blanca, offering a 360° panorama over snow capped mountains.

 

Itinerary:
Day 1 : Huaraz - Wilkawain - Monterrey

Acclimatization walk to Wilkawain archeological site – descent to Monterrey . Recommended before the start of the trek.

Day 2 : Huaraz ( 3,100 m) – Cashapampa ( 2,900 m) - Llamacoral (3.900 m).
Leave Huaraz to Cashapampa (2.900 m), visiting on the way Campo Santo (Sacred field) of Yungay, town destroyed by the ice avalanche and landslide of May 31 st 1970 . We then reach Cashapampa where we load the donkeys with the gear and start walking to the first camping site at Llamacorral (3,900m).

Day 3: Llamacorral (3.900 m) - Taullipampa (4.250 m).
This day is easy; the trail goes past the green lakes Jatuncocha and Ichicocha. We stop for lunch at a place called Quisuar, and then ascend to base camp of de Alpamayo. From this spectacular lookout point, we continue to next camp site, Taullipampa (4.250 m).

Day 4 : Taullipampa (4,250 m) – Punta Unión ( 4,750 m) - Huaripampa (3,600m).
Starting from Taullipampa we ascend gradually Union Pass (4.750 m). This pass offers a spectacular view of the summits of Artesonaraju, Paria, Pucahirca, Taulliraju, and Alpamayo. This last mountain won proclaimed the world's most beautiful mountain at the contest of Munich . We continue to de Paria Valley (3.900 m), and reach Huaripampa (3.600 m), in the valley with the same name, where we camp.

Day 5 : Huaripampa - Vaquería – Pacchapampa (4,300 m)
Starting from the camp site, we cross small settlements greeted by Andean kids. The trail continues to Vaqueria, from where we ascend to Pacchapampa cam site (4.300 m).

Day 6 : Pacchapampa – Portachuelo (4,765m) – Cebollapampa (3,850 m).
After a good breakfast, we keep ascending to the pass of Portachuelo (4.767m), which offers a beautiful view of the summits of Huascaran Huandoy, Chopicalqui, Pisco and Chacraraju, as well as the Lakes Orconcocha y Chinancocha. From the pass we descend to a flat meadow in Cebollapampa valley, where we camp at 3.850m.

Day 7 : Cebollapampa - Pisco base camp (4,600 m).
This is the starting point for the approach trek for climbing Pisco (5,750m), Huandoy (6,395m) and Chacraraju (6,112m). The base camp is reached in approximately 4 hours.

Day 8 :  Pisco Cb -  Summit Pisco (5750m) – Cb.
Early start ( 3-4 am ) for the summit climb. We cross a moraine and climb to the glacier tongue, and then to the col, which offers excellent views of summits of Cordillera Blanca. The route to the summit crosses a crevasse to reach the summit, where a 360º view around makes us forget the fatigue. Descent to base camp.

Day 9 : Cb – Cebollapampa – Yungay – Huaraz – Hostal.
Descent from base camp to Cebollapampa where transportation will take us back to the hostal in Huaraz.

EXPEDITION COSTS INCLUDE:
- When you arrive to Huaraz we pick up you to the hotel by taxi.
- 2 nights lodging in Huaraz (double bed, breakfast included)
- Bus transportation Lima – Huaraz. (Service VIP).
- Private local transportation Huaraz – Cashapampa
- Private local transportation Cebollapampa - Huaraz.
- Mountain guide (IUAGM) – Trekking – Climb.
- Cook, specialized in cooking normal and vegetarian meals
- Donkeys to carry the common gear (tents, food and fuel) as well as donkeys to carry personal gear (up to 20 kg per person)
- Kitchen gear and cooking facilities at base camp (including dining tent, chairs, cooking tent).
- Food for the whole duration of the climb (breakfast, lunch and dinner) is included.
- The meals include: omelets, sups, fresh fruits, ahuacate, spaghettis meats, rice all them rich in carbohydrates, excellent to recover all the energy you lose during the trek and climbing, also include drinks as: tea, coffee, milk breads, popcorn and coco tea good for altitude sickness
- Climbing gear: rope, Aluminum stakes, ice screws
- Camping gear: 4 season tent
- First aid kit
- Check-up for oxygen to assess acclimatization level of each client.
- Entry to National Park Huascarán.
Not included:
- Food costs outside the climb (Lima and Huaraz)
- Flight from country of origin to Lima
- Extra days of lodging due to delays of the trip
- Personal trekking and climbing gear (plastic boots, harness, ice axes, sleeping bag, sleeping mattress etc..)
- Personal expenses.

Recommended gear:

Lightweight walking shoes/sandals/socks/pants/short pants/T-shirts (long sleeve and short sleeve)/sunglasses/sunscreen/plastic bags/warm sleeping bag /light weight trekking boots/wool socks/light weight treeking pants/waterproof pants and jacket/fleece/Goretex/hat/mits or warm gloves/thermal liners/camera/bandana or hat against sun/headlamp with extra batteries.

Safety Individual gear:

Glacier glasses 100% UV with rigid case (2 pair recommended)/ goggles/ sunscreen with maximum protection/lipbalm/4 season sleeping bag/ sleeping pad or thermarest/hat/thermal underwear/fleece jacket/fleece pants/down jacket/Goretex jacket or similar material/2 pairs of gloves or mittens/ pair of thermal glove liners/2 pairs of thermal sock liners/plastic boots/gaiters.

Important Informations:

  • We recommend to make a before reservation because the price is economyc, this before reservation you can to do whit a 40 % all price and finally 60 % you can to page in huaraz when you will arrive, you would to make this reservation 6 before months.
  • We consider you to spend the two nights at the hostal ** as shown: The first night when you arrive at Huaraz and the second night if you return from the trekking. If you want to stay longer at Huaraz we can offer you a price of S/.... Nuevo Soles per person at the Hostal la Cordillera, Oscar´S (incl. hot water, priate bathroom, TV, cafeteria).The hostal is placed three squares away from the plaza de armas of Huaraz
